Walgroovies – Walgrove Elementary

What are Walgroovies?

Walgroovies are gatherings hosted by school families designed to bring together the Walgrove community while fundraising on behalf of the school. Walgroovy events range from family movie night to kids’ craft parties to dinner parties for adults.

How do they make money?

Walgroovies are sponsored and paid for entirely by host families. Each event has a requested per person or per family donation. All of the money donated by event attendees goes straight to Friends of Walgrove.

100% of ALL donations goes to fund our enrichments and teachers’ aides.

Note: we want our events to be accessible to everyone so if ticket costs are a barrier to entry, please email fundraising@friendsofwalgrove.com and we will set up you with comp-ed tickets.

Ever Holiday Mini Photo Shoot (Oct 17)

When: Oct 17th, 9am-12pm

What’s Included:

15-minute photo session
4 lightly edited, high-resolution digital images
Option to purchase additional images for $25 each or the full gallery for $100

Backyard Lu Jong Yoga for Women (Nov 4)

Yoga Walgroovy!

When: Nov 4, 8:30-10am

Join Walgrove Mom, Maria Brasero for a 90 min guided Lu Jong yoga session in her backyard following Walgrove Elementary drop off and a mingle after the practice.

Lu Jong is an ancient Tibetan healing yoga practice rooted in Tibetan Buddhist and Bön traditions. Lu Jong was developed over thousands of years to promote physical health, emotional balance, and spiritual well-being. The practice consists of a sequence of simple, flowing exercises designed to open the body’s energy channels, release blockages, and stimulate the internal organs.

Maria Brasero is a certified instructor who learned directly from the lineage of Tulku Lobsang Rimpoche back in 2022.

Mahjong 101 (Nov 12)

When: Nov 12

Join us for an introduction to American Mahjong. Come learn the basics, get familiar with the tiles, and put your new skills to work with some guided play. Led instructor Palos Verdes Mahjong. Hosted by the Jerkens Family. There will be light bites and drinks to accompany.

Winter Wonderland Family Party (Dec 6)

When: Dec 6, 2-5pm

The North Pole will be temporarily moved to Venice at the Beam residence for one fabulous day.
Come for the snow, snacks (spoiler: there will be Latkes!) and hot chocolate – then stay for ornament making and pictures with Santa!
No matter what holiday you celebrate this time of year, there will be fun to be had in our winter wonderland.
